Reproductive losses in the Omsk region were significantly higher than in the whole of Russia, and in 2010 amounted to 7.1 per 100 live births (in the Russian Federation — 5.0). In the sociological study conducted to examine the effectiveness of the provision of social support was attended by 640 women with children under three years of age. There were statistically significant differences in the physical development of the newborn (weight and body length), and the level of material well-being in the experimental and control groups. It was made a conclusion that not only medical but also social indications should be taken into account when providing targeted social assistance to pregnant women.

Keywords: reproductive losses, nutrition of pregnant, iron deficiency anemia in pregnant, physical development of children, targeted social assistance
