The results of the hallux valgus treatment using implants of biodegradable material (BDM) were estimated. In 124 patients (222 feet) there were performed corrective operations (osteotomy Akin, chevron osteotomy, SCARF). In the first group of patients there were used cortical screws, in the second group — compression screws, in the third group — the screws from the BDM. The use of screws from the BDM helped to reduce the risk of complications, which was due in particular to the lack of need for the re-operation to remove the clips. It was shown a more pronounced dynamics of the functional state (AOFAS scale and Groulier scale) in patients who had been treated with the screws from the BDM. In those patients treatment satisfaction was higher as compared with patients in the treatment of which the metal structures were used. It was concluded that the use of BMD in the surgical treatment of hallux valgus is a clinically effective and safe method.
